Harriet Atherton's Portfolio Project
Throughout the UX Design Program, you’ll build out a job-ready portfolio. Below is a breakdown of UX graduate Harriet’s portfolio project Fliss’ Kitchen.
Hi Harriet! What inspired you to make a career change into UI design?
I was immediately drawn to UX Design as for me it felt like the perfect combination of business skills, such as research, communication and analysing combined with design and creativity. I also love the focus on understanding what is driving the user’s behaviour.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
It was great having my own tutor, mentor and career advisor. All three were a massive source of encouragement and really helped me land a job in the field. I also loved the format of the course, leaving us with projects to add to our portfolio. I feel that I came away with a full understanding of the design process.
What did you enjoy about working on this portfolio project?
I feel incredibly satisfied knowing that I have managed to create something from scratch. It was amazing to help Fliss’ vision come to life and also know that I had created something which would be intuitive and easy to use.
With regards to your new skills, what are your hopes for the future?
I’ve just began working at Radically Digital, a digital consultancy as a junior product designer and loving the role. My hopes are to progress in my career, become an expert in the field and one day lead my own team of designers.
