Daniel Cho's Portfolio Project

During the CareerFoundry UX Design Program, you’ll build out a job-ready portfolio. Here is a breakdown of graduate Daniel’s project, skinsource, a mobile app that creates a personalized skincare routine for the user and connects them with dermatologists. Introducing his project, this is what Daniel had to share…

What inspired you to make a career change into this field?

While it was always my dream to become a professional ballet dancer, I quickly realized that the profession was full of issues hidden behind the curtain that created unhealthy work environments. It was the pandemic in 2020 that motivated me to find a career that not only provided more stability but also had a tangible and positive impact on people’s lives.

What did you enjoy most about the CareerFoundry UX Design Program?

I enjoyed the relationships I forged with my various mentors at CareerFoundry. It was our conversations and their feedback that really solidified my understanding of what it meant to be a UX designer.

What did you enjoy about creating your CareerFoundry portfolio project?

With skinsource, I enjoyed the challenge of creating a mobile app that would help make skincare resources accessible to everyone. Skincare is an issue that I’ve always struggled with, so my goal was to design solutions to help others who experience the same frustrations. 

With regards to your new career and skills, what are your hopes for the future?

I’m now working as a UX designer at Thomas Jefferson University and Hospitals, where I design digital interfaces that are intuitive and user-friendly for students, professors, nurses, and doctors to use. 

I hope to continue learning and developing my skills as a UX generalist, and to keep working hard to advocate for real people’s needs as technology becomes more and more relevant to our lives.
